If you are just getting started with your new Cricut, here is a quick and easy project that will help you build your confidence. The Love Card Valentine is from the Creative Everyday Cards image set in Design Space and is free to cut.
You can find this card by searching Images for “#M4CF61” or searching the cartridges for “Creative Everyday Cards.” Here is a link to my project file: https://design.cricut.com/#/design/123965380
Supplies I used:
- Tape Runner
- Xyron 250
- Silhouette Pick-Me-Up
- Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue
- Glossy Accents
This project has four mats to cut. I cut them all on the cardstock for intricate cuts setting because of the small pieces. I cut the third mat twice to make sure all the little pieces were cut out completely. I just hit the button again before ejecting the mat.
If you have an Explore, you will need to turn your dial to “custom” and then select this setting on your screen.
The letters are pretty small, and so I used the Pick Me Up tool to grab them and put them in the Xyron. If you’re not familiar with them, Xyron sticker makers apply adhesive to the back of cut pieces. They are really handy for small items that are difficult to glue.
I have all my pieces cut out and ready to assemble. I’ll set the envelope aside for now.
Assembling this card is very easy. I put the solid layer on first, using my tape runner for the adhesive.
I used my tape runner again for the pink layer.
I used a thin layer of clear gel glue between the cut outs on the top layer.
I stuck the letters on the front, and put a some Glossy Accents on them to give them a little dimension.
I used double-sided tape for the envelope.
I used painter’s tape to transfer the vinyl letters to the front of the card. It’s a very easy way to embellish a project without having to place tiny pieces individually. Here’s another card where I used this technique.
