Here is another easy, last-minute Mother’s Day card that is so cute! The Matryoshka Doll Card has a written Mother’s Day sentiment that could be changed for other occasions. This card is from the Happy Mother’s Day Cards image set.
To find this card, you can search under “Images” for the image number – #MC428CAC, or search under “Cartridges” for “Happy Mother’s Day Cards.” You will need to purchase the image or have a Cricut Access subscription to cut it.
Supplies I used:
- Cardstock
- Cricut Pen
- Glue Dots
- Alene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue
- Enamel Dot (optional)
- Xyron Create-A-Sticker Mini 2.5″ Sticker Maker
- iCraft SuperTape Strong Double Sided Permanent Double-sided Adhesive (for envelope)
Editing the design

The card has a written sentiment with “Happy Mother’s Day” on one panel and “grandma” on another. I didn’t want “grandma,” and so I used the Contour tool to remove that word. (I demonstrate the Contour tool in this video.)
Cutting the project

In the Prepare screen, I moved the envelope from mat 7 to mat 6 and rotated it to make it fit.

I was able to get the envelope and the base layer on one mat with a little room left over. Here’s more information on moving and hiding images on the mats.
I cut everything on the intricate cut setting.
Assembly

This card assembles quickly and easily. I put the flower for the front together first using glue dots.

I substituted an enamel dot for the cardstock dot in the middle of the flower to add some dimension.

Next, I put the top folding layer on the base layer using Alene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue.
I used my small Xyron to apply adhesive to the smaller pieces.

After adding the face and hair pieces, I used glue dots to attach the flower to the front. I used double-sided tape for the envelope.
