When you need to move letters together in Design Space you can use the letter spacing option to get the letters closer together. Clicking the down arrow will reduce the spaces between the letters

However, since letters aren’t uniform, in most cases, you will need to ungroup the letters and move them individually until they overlap. Holding down shift key while moving the letters with the mouse will keep them on the same x-axis.

Once the letters are touching, you can weld to remove overlapping cut lines and make the word cut as one piece.

Here’s a brief video that demonstrates this technique:

I have had my Cricut for a few years and didn’t know that about the shift key, thanks!!
Hi, holding my shift key doesn’t work on my mac when I am in design space. Is it different for mac?
No, I only use Macs. This appears to be a bug in version 6 of Design Space.
It seems to be a problem on the PC as well I have version 6.2.1 and the shift is not controlling the x-axis anymore.
Hopefully it will be fixed in the next update if enough users report it to Cricut.
