This is one of projects that has been on my “to do” list for some time. After the post-Christmas crafting rush, this was a fun shadow box to create while thinking of warmer days. Dreaming Tree‘s Bicycle Paper Sculpture makes a wonderful gift or a beautiful accent for your home. Leo’s assembly video is easy to follow and takes you through each step.

Inking. It takes extra time, but inking is well worth it, especially on a display piece like this one. Leo has a section on the Dreaming Tree site with several videos where he demonstrates his inking techniques. There are lots of different kinds of ink applicators available, and you may want to experiment to find the one that works the best for you.

Make two. I almost always make two of a project. The most time consuming part of a project can be picking out the cardstock, and it doesn’t take that much more time to increase the project copies and cut two of each image. Sometimes, I like a project so much I don’t want to give it away, and this way I have one to give and one to keep!

Print then cut background. The background of this shadow box could have been inked or a sheet of patterned cardstock used, but I printed a background using a free download from Design Bundles, my wide format printer, and this cardstock.
