Cricut Design Space Updates – February 2022

Cricut has made some improvements and bug fixes to Design Space with the release of version 7.2.87 of Design Space for PC/Mac. Note: these changes don’t apply to the iOS or Android apps. This is for the version of Design Space that runs on laptop and desktop computers. Click here for a features comparison chart of the three different versions of Design Space.

This is the pop-up that you will see when you open to Design Space after it updates. Design Space updates are rolled out to users gradually, and updates are automatic. There is no way to force an update.

Phrases Button

It’s so much easier to find phrases and sentiments now!

Simply click on the Phrases button in the menu on the left side of the screen.

From there, it’s easy to search for the right phrase by entering terms in the search field. In the above example, I typed “Happy St. Patrick’s Day.” It brings up all images that match my search term. Cut, drawn, and print then cut images are included.

It’s easy to narrow the search by selecting one of the filters on the left. I often need to write sentiments for cards, and so I chose Draw Only and Cut + Draw. This is also a good way to find phrases for the Foil Transfer Tool. The Operation Type is indicated in the lower left corner of the image tile.

Bug Fixes

The most notable bug fix has to do with the Material Selection for the Cricut Maker. Design Space will remember the material selection from the previous mat. If you change materials, you will need to remember to change the material selection in Design Space.

If you notice a Design Space bug that needs to be reported to Cricut, you can send them feedback here. Select App Feedback in the dropdown menu.

Check out Cricut’s release notes for more information on the new features and bug fixes.

  1. Using the new text function on 7.2 the word TEXT appears each time on my canvas and I have to delete those four letters before I start to type my word. Why is that, and how can I get rid of it? Also sometime a green box appears on the screen over my text, what is that telling me?

    1. You can just type over the letters instead of deleting them. I haven’t seen a green box over my text. The blue box just shows you that the text layer is selected.

  2. Text isnt working at all… it shows faded in my side panel but it cant be used or deleted.
