There are lots of great adhesives and glues available for crafters. Everyone has their favorites, and it sometimes takes a while to find what you like the best. Here are the ones I’ve tried and enjoyed using over the years.
Glue
Some projects, like this Thanksgiving card, need a liquid glue. When something needs exact placement, liquid glue works well because the item can be adjusted after being placed.
I’ve tried several different brands of liquid glue, and Art Glitter Glue has been the best in terms of hold and ease of use. It does not contain glitter. It has a good consistency and dries clear.
The Darice Ultrafine Tip Applicator Bottles are extremely helpful in applying this glue. They are comfortable to hold and make it easy to control the flow of glue.
Tape Runners
I’m a big fan of tape runners, especially for scrapbooking. I prefer ones that have a handle and refills that drop in. I tried the E-Z Runner Grand Adhesive Dispenser not long ago, and I am really liking it. The adhesive roll lasts a long time, but the dispenser isn’t too large to handle.
I also like the Xyron Mega Runner. It’s compact and easy to take to crops. The refills drop in and come in 0.5″ and 0.25″ widths.
Glue Dots
Glue Dots come in a variety of sizes and are available in flat or raised styles. They are great for hard to stick items or things that only need adhesive on a small area.
I like using them for adhering a cut to an embossed layer. I sometimes split them in half with scissors if I need a smaller size than what I have on hand.
3D Foam Squares
A little bit of dimension can really add to a cardstock project, and 3D Foam Squares are always good to have on hand to lift a cut off the background piece. I get the combo pack with large and small squares in the same package.
I use an old weeding tool to pierce the backing of the foam square and remove it easily.
Double-Sided Tape
Box cards and other 3D projects need an extra secure adhesive, and double-sided tape is perfect for these situations. It can also be used for sealing envelopes shut.
